Destination Days: Open House & Tours

This event is geared toward prospective students and families, and is hosted as part of the annual University of Massachusetts Amherst Admissions Destination Days.

Information | Registration

The Department of Art Open House offers opportunities for guests to meet faculty, ask questions, join an info session with the Undergraduate Program Director, and take a tour of the department facilities, galleries, and studios. This year, faculty and staff will lead tours starting at Studio Arts Building then visiting Herter Gallery and the Bromery Center before ending in front of the University Museum of Contemporary Art. The info session and tour is approx. 1 hour -1.5 hours and involves moderate walking. Accessible doors and elevators are available at each building.

Visiting Artist Talk: Laylah Ali

At the Old Chapel

Laylah Ali has had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis; and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. She has been the recipient of multiple honors including the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant, United States Artists Fellowship, William H. Johnson Prize, and the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston Artist Prize. Her work and process were highlighted in season three of the acclaimed PBS Art21 series.  She is a Professor of Art at Williams College in MA.
