Nilesh Shinde, resource economics post-doc, has co-authored a paper in PNAS on the benefits of collective property rights in the form of Indigenous territories (ITs) in the Brazilian Amazon: "a policy solution not only for human rights and conservation but also for successful forest restoration." Shinde and colleagues offer data suggesting how restoration efforts inside ITs where communities have full property rights show more secondary forest growth.
