Master of Arts in Political Science

The UMass Amherst Master of Arts in Political Science is a cross-disciplinary exploration of six fields of political inquiry: US politics, comparative politics, international relations, political theory, public policy, and public law. As part of the program, you will explore methodologies tailored to your professional goals, including learning about statistical modeling, network analysis, ethnography, textual analysis, comparative case studies, and survey methods. 

Students engage with our faculty to develop skills to prepare them for a career based in political science. You will hone your ability to articulate clear and compelling arguments through discourse and research, positioning you to excel in any career requiring strong critical thinking and communication skills. Our graduates have pursued careers in policy analysis, government, political campaign management, public relations, and public affairs, just to name a few.
