Massachusetts state house

The Massachusetts Appeals Court is once again visiting UMass Amherst to hear oral arguments in six pending cases. The arguments are open to the public, providing students with a fantastic opportunity to see the Appeals Court in action, right here on campus.

The three justices making up the panel will hold a special informal discussion after the hearings to answer student questions. Typically, the hearing includes three criminal cases and three civil cases — you can find the case info, along with the briefs (legal memoranda) in all of them here.

The panel will be comprised of Justices William Meade (UMass ’86), Joseph Ditkoff, and Robert Toone.
