Information for Fellows

The overall objective of the Office of Inclusion and Engagement (OIE) is to cultivate an inclusive environment through which REAL and Spaulding-Smith fellows (graduate students) from all backgrounds can thrive and succeed at UMass Amherst. OIE works to promote student success through recruitment efforts, graduate fellowships, mentoring, and community-building programming.

In addition to the financial support, REAL and Spaulding-Smith fellows can apply for supplementary travel funds ($600) per academic year to support their academic training, and they can also apply for Well-being funds to assist with co-pay costs, up to a maximum of $150 per year per fellow. Submit a Well-being fund application

OIE also hosts a variety of community-building events for fellows throughout the year. Fellows are encouraged to attend community-building events to help us build our community and help each other.
