Polymer Science and Engineering

Establish expertise in the rapidly evolving world of polymer science and engineering through groundbreaking research at the polymer science and engineering department at UMass Amherst, one of the largest centers for such research in the world. Through research and experimentation, we seek to expand the useful application of polymers to meet human needs. Our graduate programs emphasize cross-discipline research and work collaboratively with other universities and national laboratories. Candidates conduct teaching and research in polymer synthesis, characterization, morphology, rheology, physics, and engineering.
