Welcome to Political Science Advising 

The Political Science Advising Team partners with undergraduate students to develop a meaningful pathway through the major and to pursue enriching coursework and educational opportunities from admission to graduation. 

Students are encouraged to connect with an advisor each semester to ensure comprehensive guidance and support student success. Feel free to make an appointment whenever you need guidance. There are many ways to see us and remember that we are here for course enrollment and so much more. 

Scheduled Appointment: Use Navigate to schedule a 30-minute individual appointment with any staff advisor. During busy times we will offer fifteen-minute quick question appointments as well. We offer both virtual and in-person options.

Drop-In Hours for Spring 2025: No appointment necessary. Check the chart below for times and come by the Thompson Hall 3rd floor lounge for a quick check-in with a peer advisor or staff advisor. 

*** There will be no drop-in hours during Spring Break week, March 17-21, 2025. Advisors are available for scheduled appointments.***

Small Group Advising (SGA) In a small group of two to eight students, peer and staff advisors will cover a variety of different topics. Many students enjoy this option as a chance to connect with peers and learn in a group setting.

  • SGA Enrollment Support: During registration cycles we offer general advising appointments for small groups of students. We will cover general enrollment information as well as specific check-ins with each student. These appointments are available in October - November for Spring planning and March - April for Fall planning. Use Navigate to schedule a ‘General Advising’ appointment.
  • SGA Internships: Throughout the semester, Adrian Grace, Director of Undergraduate Advising (DUA) will share basic information internship process. Use Navigate to schedule an ‘Internship’ appointment.
  • SGA Study Abroad: Throughout the semester, Adrian Grace, Director of Undergraduate Advising (DUA) will share information about the study abroad process and how courses taken abroad may fulfill major requirements. Use Navigate to schedule a ‘Study Abroad’ appointment.
  • SGA Post-Grad Planning: Throughout the semester, Adrian Grace, Director of Undergraduate Advising (DUA) will share information and resources about preparing for next steps after graduation. Use Navigate to schedule a ‘Post-Grad Planning’ appointment.
  • SGA Success Coaching: A place to strengthen skills needed for academic success, set realistic goals, and stay accountable to yourself.  If you are interested, please ask an advisor.

Location: Thompson Hall, Third Floor – The third floor lounge is an open space that many students use for studying or to meet with an advisor.
