OPD Public Speaking Cohort

Come practice your public speaking with us!
We all know we need to work on our presentation skills in graduate school, but it can be hard to find a safe space to actually practice with others. Join this in-person opportunity designed for PhD students to build your public speaking skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Over three weeks, you'll be introduced to simple strategies that make public speaking a little less daunting – and then you’ll get to do the most important thing: practice.
Join this public speaking working group to:
- Learn the tips and tricks that make it easier to present your work.
- Practice your own way of presenting your work and research
- Achieve a new level of confidence and comfort with your peers
Bonus: Participants who attend all three sessions are eligible to receive one-on-one coaching to apply concepts to their real-life situations.
Each session includes time to speak in front of your peers, receive feedback, and grow more comfortable sharing your work aloud. (Breakfast will be provided during each meeting.)
Schedule
- Friday August, 8th - 10:30am-12:00pm: Public Speaking - The Good and the Bad!
- Friday August, 15th - 10:30am-12:00pm: Communicating Quickly
