Instructions for Fellowship Nomination for Advisors
The REAL and Spaulding-Smith diversity awards are made to students for whom a case can be made for academic excellence and underrepresentation in the discipline, department, and professoriate or other professions for which the terminal degree (PhD or MFA) is the normal preparation.
Although only GPD or admission chairs can officially nominate a student for these prestigious fellowships, faculty advisors can help with the nomination process since they are sometimes more familiar with the student's qualities.
