Civil Engineering has a variety of program areas to apply your engineering skills to build the environment surrounding us. You can specialize your learning in one of four program areas: Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering and Mechanics and Transportation Engineering. You’ll specialize your knowledge by learning more deeply in one area about the infrastructure at the center of everything we do. Having safe water to drink, having access to safe highways to get us where we need to go, foundations under our buildings, and the structures we inhabit—civil engineers work on these and countless other issues. You’ll combine your individual interests with a wide variety of research areas as you move towards a career in this exciting discipline.
