From sharing space to sharing stories, community collaboration is key to how the Henry M. Thomas III Center at Springfield engages the commonwealth. Our programs and opportunities break down the barriers between UMass and the region we call home. From strategic partnerships with community organizations to working groups and historic preservation efforts, our center is a hub for regional cooperation.
In the Spotlight
The Entrepreneurial & Business Collaborative (E & B Collaborative) is a community-rooted education organization that focuses on leadership development, workforce training, and entrepreneurship. As a community partner, they offer training and services geared towards helping women and minority-owned businesses thrive.
Strategic Partnerships and Regional Engagement
Our strategic partnerships build a strong foundation for engagement across the Springfield metropolitan area. These initiatives connect students and faculty with community organizations that foster education, leadership, and economic growth.
Documenting Local Community Histories
This interdisciplinary program invites members of the greater Springfield community to share their stories with UMass students. Students receive credit while connecting with community history in a series of conversations and workshops.
Monthly Working Groups
On the third Thursday of each month, faculty and community partners come together to discuss our current work. We share academic and business needs, find opportunities to collaborate, and strengthen regional alliances. Community organizations are encouraged to join.
