My research focuses on how and why transnational social movements understand and use the international human rights regime through courts for their desired outcomes, particularly with a focus on conflict-related sexual violence, particularly the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery. I am interested in legal consciousness and mobilization of human rights in non-Western societies, particularly characterized as democracies. My research interests include international human rights regime, conflict-related sexual violence, legal mobilization, and transnational social movements.
