LLC is the home of language and cultural studies at UMass. Offering ten modern languages and dozens of courses in literature, culture, film, and other media, the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is the best place from which to launch your global studies.

 

In LLC, you can study modern languages from the introductory to the graduate level. We also teach many courses in English, and are home to eight majors, three Ph.D programs, and several MA and MAT programs. Our sixty-five faculty are experts in fields including virtually all periods of literature, film studies, graphic novels, comics, manga, translation and interpreting studies, and linguistics.
