Note: Some courses approved and occasionally taught by Chinese program faculty in EALC may not be listed here. Please consult a Chinese program advisor as needed.

Students must achieve a grade of C or better in a course for it to be counted toward the major. Students must have a minimum GPA in the major of 2.0 in order to satisfy the requirements in Chinese Language and Literature.

No pass/fail options will be accepted for those courses used toward completion of the requirements for the major. (Courses designated as mandatory pass/fail, however, may be considered for credit toward this major. Consult your advisor.)

Students who begin the major at an advanced level must take enough courses at that level to accumulate the required number of credits from the major. Double majors need to complete the junior year writing requirement in only one of their majors. Only 6 credits from other institutions within and without the Five College consortium may be applied to this major. No more than 6 credits may be earned for the 110/120/126/127 or 246/247 sequences.
