Fellows work on Sustainable UMass initiatives and are mentored by the Campus Sustainability Manager, Assistant Campus Sustainability Manager, a faculty sponsor, and work alongside fellow student peers. Each fellow is hired to focus on a specific aspect of sustainability on campus. Projects are determined on an individual basis to further the implementation of sustainable practices on campus in all of these areas.

As a SCD Major, I've investigated and studied various areas on the UMass Campus. After seeing the recent efforts to revitalize Hampden DC, I would like to start my Sustainability Fellowship journey there, and work alongside staff to reinvigorate that space. Another reason I want to focus on Hampden is the recent addition of the brick & mortar home for New2U. As a SCD major, one aspect of community development that I find essential is circularity, and New2U is going to bring a new definition of circularity to the UMass Campus, and it is one that I would love to assist. Rob studies polar climate change, the response of ice sheets to a warming climate, and coastal impacts of sea-level rise. Rob serves on international science advisory boards and is a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Previously, he held research positions at the US National Center for Atmospheric Research and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
