The Nurse-Engineer Approach

At the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation we are pioneering the powerful, bidirectional, interdisciplinary Nurse-Engineer Approach to identify healthcare challenges, develop and refine solutions, and make informed decisions to optimize the delivery of patient-centered healthcare.

Founded in January 2021, the Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation was formed using seed funding provided by Micheal and Theresa Hluchyj and soon expanded thanks to a second major donation from the Elaine Nicpon Marieb Charitable Foundation. Our faculty-led research teams describe and address gaps in healthcare product and process design, and our product prototyping lab enables faculty, graduate, and undergraduate researchers to design and prototype new products for real-world testing by frontline clinical end-users. We are training the next generation of healthcare innovators while supporting the work of the current generation, and we look forward to continued growth.
