Stephanie Ramirez, class of 2016, is associate director of social and new media at Amherst College. Before taking the Amherst job, she was a communications specialist and staff writer at Princeton University.
"When I graduated from UMass, I knew chasing stories wasn't quite my thing. But I was a storyteller, and at UMass, I became a writer. At Amherst Wire, I became a savvy digital communicator and social media manager. Now I use these skills to help leading colleges and universities tell their stories on their websites and social media platforms and build more inclusive communities across social to connect and engage with their students, faculty, staff and alumni."
"And I push for them to do it for the greater good: to represent the wonderful work on their campuses and to showcase the stories of their diverse community. That's particularly important to students, faculty and staff from underrepresented communities feel recognized on a campus that may not have historically welcomed them to break down the barriers in communications between academics and the wider community."
