PROFILE

Jung Ah Lee earned her B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature at Sungkyunkwan University and her M.Ed. in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at East China Normal University, where her research examined the effectiveness of online game-based learning of foreign writing systems. She also completed the Korean Language Teacher program at Korea University.

Over more than fifteen years, Lee has taught Korean, Chinese, and English to learners of all ages and levels across the United States, China, and Korea. She teaches Korean at Boston University, and she also works with young Korean-American learners at the Korean School of New England, where she nurtures their connection to their heritage language and culture.

Lee is an active contributor to the Korean language teaching community, sharing her classroom practice at national and regional teacher training programs, including those of the Overseas Koreans Agency and the Korean School Association of the United States. Her teaching centers on communicative, culturally integrated instruction and on the sense of motivation that brings students back to the language again and again. Her interests include foreign language learning methods, student motivation, and the use of technology in language teaching.
