Advising Announcement
All Managerial and ENRE Primary majors will have a Registration Hold put on their accounts - you won't be able to register until that hold is removed. We are arranging registration advising by appointment only - Please schedule an appointment through Navigate to set up an in-person or virtual appointment! Since all primary majors are required to meet with an Academic Advisor, it is to your advantage to get on our calendars sooner rather than later! Of note: you do not need to meet with your assigned advisor, so please keep an eye on availability for any of the three of us (Dorise, Ruth, and Colby).
Spring 2025 enrollment dates are as follows:
- Rising Seniors (87+ credits): November 12th & 13th
- Rising Juniors (57-86 credits): November 14th & 15th
- Rising Sophomores (27-56 credits): November 18th - 20th
- First Years (26 credits and below): November 22nd - 26th
Enrollment appointments are determined by the combined total of credits earned and credits enrolled in Fall 2024. Winter Registration is open now.
*Also of note: the last date to Drop with a 'W' grade or to change to a Pass/Fail in SPIRE is October 29th. If you have any questions about this, please reach out!
Academic Advising in Resource Economics
Academic advising in the Resource Economics Department is a robust partnership between students and our professional advising team. Res-Econ Advisors serve as guides to help you with short and long-term planning for our majors and minor while meeting your interests and goals. Advisors also help you integrate degree enhancements and high-impact practices like study abroad, domestic exchange, internships, research and other opportunities to complement your studies. We are a resource in times of academic challenge, and a great place to start when you aren't sure where else to go. We facilitate connections between students, alumni, faculty, and other University resources. We aid students who are struggling, find opportunities to celebrate and honor our students, and we create opportunities for learning and professional development. As partners in your education, we require all primary majors meet with our advisors every term to make sure that you receive personalized assistance. UMass may be a large place, but advising in Resource Economics provides a home. There is no shortage of opportunities available at UMass - we are here to help you figure out how to navigate and maximize your college experience.
Our Team Approach
Once you declare Managerial Economics or Environmental & Natural Resource Economics (ENRE) as your major, you will be assigned an academic advisor, so you will always have someone to connect with if you aren't sure where else to go. Our advising model, however, is a team approach: while you are welcome to see the same person consistently, you are also welcome to see the first available advisor, or any departmental advisor with whom you've made a meaningful connection. Regardless of who you meet with, check-in with an advisor at least once per semester, though more often is welcome and encouraged.
