The Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies
Since its inception in 1991, the Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies has become a dynamic center of interdepartmental and interdisciplinary activity, with active participation from a solid core of faculty members representing fifteen departments from the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences
Director's Welcome
Our whole team is thrilled to have you on board our dynamic center of interdepartmental, interdisciplinary and multicultural activity. If you are reading these lines, it probably means we share a passion for cinema. With us, you’ll have a really unique chance to pursue it, and make it grow!
Advising
If you are not currently enrolled in the program, or if you are already enrolled and wish to ensure that you are progressing towards earning your Film Studies Certificate or the Film Studies Major, schedule a meeting with our Peer Advisor, Chloe Mills ([email protected]).
Filmmaking in the 21st Century
Interdepartmental Film Studies is happy to sponsor the Visiting Professors Series "Filmmaking in the 21st Century". The program regularly hosts award-winning international filmmakers and film scholars who offer classes in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, the video essay, and other key areas of filmmaking and film scholarship. Students have an unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and enrich their portfolios.
Statement Against Racism
The Interdepartmental Program in Film Studies strongly condemns the endemic racism, oppression, and violence suffered by Black people in the United States of which the brutal killing of George Floyd represents the most recent (and mediatic) manifestation. In our program there is no room for racism, xenophobia, bigotry, or hatred of any kind.
