Onboarding Young Workers in a Post-Pandemic World

In this report we focus on what they see as working and what tends to fail when onboarding new young employees. Our goal is to help employers examine their hiring and onboarding practices, increase the speed at which new hires become productive team members, and reduce the high financial and emotional cost of turnover from failed hires.

The tech industry talks about boosting diversity, but research shows little improvement

With its rapid growth and abundance of high paying jobs, the tech industry is both an important and frustrating point of focus for advocates of workplace equity. Rather than focus on the industry as a whole, our research uses machine learning techniques and firm employment diversity for all U.S. tech firms with more than 100 employees. We track how the majority of firms continue to provide few opportunities for women and minorities in professional and managerial positions, while also pointing to the handful rapidly diversifying firms that might provide a template for addressing tech’s issues in employment equity.

Despite laws intended to end workplace pregnancy discrimination, thousands of women face employer discrimination related to their pregnancies every year. This is true for women in low wage physically demanding occupations, high wage occupations, and even workplaces dedicated to supporting women.
