Use the following links to download and learn about ArcGIS Pro.
This software is only available to students and employees of UMass Amherst, to only be used for education and public research purposes. You can't use UMass's license for ArcGIS Pro if you're billing someone for the work you're doing, or you're being paid as a consultant / contractor to an entity outside UMass Amherst, with it.
We have a lot more on offer from ESRI than just ArcGIS Pro. If you don't see something you need please contact @email and we'll figure out how to get it for you.
Unfortunately, ArcGIS only runs on Windows. However, there are alternative GIS apps, in addition to workarounds to get ArcGIS to run in a virtual environment on Mac and Linux: Click here for more info.
Please note: ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) licenses expired on June 30, 2024. After that, U-Mass will no longer have access to ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap), as the software is in its End Of Life phase and ESRI will no longer support it.
Instructions
- Note— we're still working on providing detailed instructions below, and it's taking a little longer than expected because: new website backend. The tl;dr is go to https://umass-amherst.maps.arcgis.com, click "Sign In" in the upper right hand corner, and log in to create an account. After being taken through the familiar UMass login screen, go to the upper right hand corner, click on your name, then click on My Settings, click on Licenses on the left-hand menu, and then scroll down to ArcGIS Pro and click Download ArcGIS Pro. After installing it and running it, click on "Not signed In" in the upper right hand corner if you don't already see the ArcGIS Sign In window. In the window, click on "Your ArcGIS organization's URL", enter "umass-amherst" in the box, and it should take you to the familiar UMass sign in screen. Be sure to enter your full e-mail on that screen! If you run into any trouble, or if ArcGIS Pro tells you you need to update Microsoft .NET, please e-mail arcgis@umass.edu and we'll get back to you in a jiffy.
