Anthropology offers many opportunities for independent study or research, lab experience, practicums, and internships. Please contact faculty of interest as well as advising.
The anthropology major is both challenging and flexible, providing a strong foundation in the subject while supporting a holistic education. To complete your studies and build this foundation, you can choose from the following courses:
Foundation courses are intended to introduce you to the field of anthropology and its four sub-fields. A minimum of 2 Foundation courses are required:

You must complete at least 4 Core Courses. Two of these can be 200-level, while the other two must be 300-400-level. You can select any four courses you like unless you choose to declare a concentration.

The Research Methods Sequence includes AN 281 Stats Using R, ( this may be waived with an approved statistics course from another department*) and an Advanced Research Methods Course (ARM).

AN 364 Problems in Anthropology fulfills the university's Junior Year Writing (JYW) requirement and is offered in both Fall and Spring semesters.
An Integrative Experience course is required by the University and is intended to offer a reflection on your gen ed and major education. Anthropology offers the following IE courses:
