User & Application Support

AFIT provides technical support, training, and onsite support to all users across the Administration and Finance, Human Resources, and Student Affairs and Campus Life executive areas as well as other areas of campus that utilize our services or supported applications. Our Technical Assistance Center provides Tier 1 support and triages incidents and requests to our Field, Systems, Web, Reporting, Compliance & Security, and Applications teams. We support, configure, and administer specialized applications used by departments we serve. We are responsible for user access control and identity management for our various IT services and for the entire Amherst Campus for University system-wide IT services.

Compliance & Security

AFIT provides security and compliance oversight for the HIPAA covered components of campus, PCI DSS Compliance oversight for all areas of campus accepting credit cards in coordination with the University Treasurer’s office, and maintains additional compliance requirements for Human Resources, Financial Data, CIJS, FERPA, and other similarly regulated administrative data. We also work closely with the UMass IT Networking team maintaining network access and controls (e.g., campus firewalls) to ensure the security of our devices, applications, and data.

 

Device Management

AFIT provides management of all endpoint devices used by supported areas (computers, mobile devices, VoIP Phones, printers, IoT devices, automated building controls, etc.). This includes procurement, configuration, deployment, support, updates, and monitoring of devices to maintain efficient operation, compliance, and security standards.

Web Services

AFIT provides full-spectrum web services for all departments within Administration & Finance. This includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing departmental websites, feature sites, and department-related web applications.

Reporting, Integration, & Data Analytics

AFIT supports and develops reporting tools and dashboards across multiple campus platforms and data sets for the campus. This includes support, training, and report development in system-wide tools such as Summit Financials, as well as department-specific analytics solutions using Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS, and other technology platforms. We also support various integrations between IT services using ETL (Export Transform Load) tools including FME and Boomi.

IT Procurement

AFIT provides full procurement life cycle support for IT devices and software, from request through contracting, for our directly supported departments.  We participate in the IT risk review for all software purchases and contracts that move through the BuyWays procurement system as well as advise and support campus departments with IT procurement via BuyWays.

IT Service Management

AFIT provides life cycle management for IT services in partnership with our supported departments.  We provide business analysis, requirements development, assistance with vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project management for implementation. Post implementation, we manage the required servers to support these IT services, including deployment, configuration, updates, and monitoring of servers to maintain performance, compliance, and security standards.  As services are updated, we provide business analysis and project management during the upgrade process.
