These requirements apply to students entering UMass Amherst in Fall 2026 or later.
Please note: There is no "double dipping" within the major, meaning that a single course cannot fulfill more than one requirement.

1 Additional Sociology Elective
Students will take one 200+ level sociology elective.
1 Distribution Requirement
Students will take one Criminology, Law, and Deviance elective.
4 Labor & Community Advocacy Courses
Students will take three Labor & Community Advocacy electives and one Work, Labor, Organizing, Political Economy, or Inequalities elective.
