About
Matt is the Aquatics & Risk Management Coordinator for UMass Recreation & Wellbeing, where he is passionate about creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students. As a proud UMass Amherst alumnus, Matthew is excited to give back to the campus community by mentoring student employees, supporting leadership development, and helping create spaces where students can learn and grow safely.
Matthew earned his master's degree in Emergency Management from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and brings experience in aquatics, emergency management, public safety, and emergency response. He is a certified Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/AED/ First Aid Instructor, Wilderness First Aid Instructor, EMT, and NAUI Divemaster and Search and Rescue Diver.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys scuba diving, photography, and spending time outdoors. He is committed to helping students develop valuable leadership, teamwork, and lifesaving skills that will benefit them long after graduation.
