How are you using Campus Parking?
Visitor parking is best if you are coming for a meeting, tour, or performance, visiting a student or attending an event, or you are on campus for a few hours or a single day.
You may pay by the hour in the Campus Center Parking Garage, in visitor lots or at meters. Pay with ParkMobile or at pay stations.
Purchase a permit if you are a student living on or near campus, an employee who commutes daily, an affiliate who parks multiple times per week
Permits may be purchased for one year and renewed. Park in designated permit-only lots.
If you have a state-issued placard, contact the Parking Services Office Special Needs Clerk to register your vehicle and obtain a UMass permit at no charge. Your fine will be waived at that time.
Winter Parking
The UMASS Amherst Campus Parking Snow Policy is in effect from December 1 through April 1. It affects overnight parking (1 AM to 7 AM) and parking during Snow Emergency Closing periods.

From 12/1 to 4/1 overnight parking is allowed in the lots listed below. If a lot is not in the list below, then overnight parking is not allowed.

- Lot 25 (north of Forestry Rd only)

- Lot 42
- Lot 43
- Lot 46
- Lot 52
- Lot 62
- Lot 63 including Thatcher Road (except at meters)
- Lot 65
- Yellow Lots (11,12,13)
Campus Parking Rules During Campus Closures
The following parking rules apply when the campus is closed due to inclement weather as posted on the UMass Amherst Closing website.
Parking is allowed only with the appropriate permit:
- Lot 22
- Lot 23
- Lot 25
- Lot 28
- Lot 29
- Lot 44
- Lot 49
- Lot 50
- Lot 54
- University Village
- Any posted reserved space
Parking is not allowed in these lots, roadways and areas, except as noted:
- Lot 26
- Lot 27
- Lot 31
- Lot 32
- Lot 33
- Lot 34
- Lot 35
- Lot 45 (except by special permit only)
- Lot 47 (park in Lot 44 from 1am to 7am)
- Lot 64
- Lot 66
- Lot 67
- Lot 68
- Lot 71
- Any campus roadway (inc. Southwest horseshoe)
- All parking meters (inc. Fearing Street and Southwest horseshoe)
- University Village 15 min areas
Parking for essential personnel:
During a snow emergency closing period, essential personnel who report to work may park only in the following areas with the appropriate permit:
- Lot 25 – Commonwealth Ave.
- Lot 30 – Campus Center Service Rd.
- Lot 31 – Governor’s Dr.
- Lot 32 – Lincoln. Ave.
- Lot 34 – Mass Ave. (east of the solar canopy only)
- Lot 36 – Mullins Way
- Lot 62 – Stockbridge Rd.
- Lot 63 – N. Pleasant St. (east of Worcester DC only)
- Lot 72 – Thatcher Way
Please note that during snow conditions, it is not possible to guarantee normal lot capacity will be available.
- Park your vehicle next to other parked vehicles at the front of the lot.
- Use alternative modes to get to UMASS (bus, walk, carpool, etc.)
- If space is not available in your assigned lot, go to either Lot 25 (north of Forestry Rd) or Yellow Lot 12 (both west of Physical Plant).

Carpool permits are available to UMass employees and students who regularly share rides to the University. If you are looking for a carpool partner, please consider using BayState Commute.
Visit Parking Services today to get a carpool permit. If you already have a current parking permit, you may exchange it, and receive a pro-rated refund.
