The Elaine Marieb College of Nursing is proud to announce that our online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program has been reaccredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through the year 2035.

The CCNE Board found that the DNP program substantially complies with all four required accreditation standards, affirming the program’s robust curriculum, faculty performance, and student outcomes. The college will submit interim compliance reports demonstrating adherence to enhancements in curriculum development, certification pass rates, faculty outcomes, and program effectiveness, as outlined by CCNE.

This reaccreditation marks a significant milestone for the Marieb College of Nursing, ensuring the continued excellence of advanced nursing education. The reaccreditation process also provided an opportunity for program improvements, thanks to the leadership and initiative of Interim DNP Director Terrie Black, Program Specialist Karen Ayotte, and numerous other faculty and staff members involved in preparing for the accreditation review.

Key updates and enhancements have been implemented as part of the reaccreditation, with plans to incorporate these improvements in upcoming interim reports outlined by the CCNE. The reaccreditation includes expectations for the DNP curriculum to reflect The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education (2021), incorporating the 10 Domains for Nursing, 8 Concepts for Nursing Practice, and 45 Competencies. This alignment ensures UMass Nursing graduates meet nationally recognized standards preparing them for leadership roles in health care.

“These important changes and updates will be instrumental in the continued success of the program.”
