Clinical Associate Professor Celeste Surreira, DNP, FNP-BC, FNP-C, CNL, CEN, FAHA, has been elected a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), conferred by the association's Council on Cardiovascular and Stroke Nursing (CVSN). Surreira says being named a Fellow is "deeply meaningful" to her because it reflects her career-long commitment to improving cardiovascular care and patient outcomes.
"From my years as an emergency nurse and nursing leader to my practice as a nurse practitioner and now as an educator and AHA leader, I have been able to impact care in different ways. This honor recognizes that journey and strengthens my commitment to using my experience and knowledge to influence students, clinicians, and ultimately the patients and communities we serve."
—Celeste Surreira, clinical associate professor
Election as a Fellow of the American Heart Association is an honorific designation recognizing premium professional members for excellence and for innovative, sustained contributions in scholarship, practice and/or education, as well as volunteer service within the association. The designation also acknowledges scientific and professional accomplishments, volunteer leadership and service in support of the association's mission: to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
As a Fellow, Surreira is entitled to use the FAHA designation, receives recognition of her scholarly education, practice and leadership accomplishments by her peers, and gains access to the FAHA Lounge and early registration at the association's Scientific Sessions.
Surreira's teaching work and research at the Marieb College of Nursing spans emergency and cardiovascular care, clinical nurse leadership, and the preparation of future nurse leaders.
