Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Post-Master’s Online Certificate prepares nurses to provide treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. This 28- to 30-credit, 100% online program is designed for nurses who hold a master’s degree and wish to expand their scope of practice to include the care of individuals, families, and groups with psychiatric and mental health needs. Preference is given to nurses with experience in psychiatric mental health nursing.
Students gain clinical experience in behavioral health settings such as inpatient psychiatric facilities, crisis stabilization programs, outpatient private practices, community mental health clinics, and psychiatric partial and intensive outpatient programs.
Students who complete the program may apply for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) certifications.

Additional Information: Most states require specialty certification for licensure as an advanced practice nurse/nurse practitioner. Although EMCON curriculum meets the state education requirements for most states with the exception of Alabama, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, and or Washington it is important to check with your state board of nursing for any additional licensure requirements.
