The Center for Teaching and Learning is offering limited-time access to “Embracing AI as Essential Learning: Preparing Students for Life Beyond College,” a recorded keynote lecture by author C. Edward Watson. The lecture, recorded on campus in Bartlett Hall on March 6, will be available from Thursday, April 24 to Friday, May 2.

During the lecture, Watson, vice president for digital innovation at the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), and co-author with Jose Bowen of the 2024 book, “Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning,” offers an overview of the challenges and opportunities that have emerged for higher education with the launching of GenAI, especially in terms of pedagogical practice and student learning.

The core focus of the keynote centers on concrete approaches and strategies higher education can adopt, both within the classroom and across larger curricular structures, to best prepare students for the life that awaits them after graduation.

The lecture was part of the inaugural Mei-Yau Shih Speaker Series, supported by the Dr. Mei-Yau Shih Professional Development Fund in association with Teaching with AI: A Faculty Reading Circle.

More information, including online registration form for on-demand access, can be found on the CTL Events webpage.
