UMass Amherst faculty members and librarians are invited to apply for the 2024-25 Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity Excellence (STRIDE) Faculty Fellowship Program, which provides faculty with the opportunity to support diversity, equity and inclusion in faculty recruitment.

The one-year fellowship, sponsored by the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion, aims to ensure that the STRIDE Faculty Recruitment Workshops continue to be faculty-driven and examine the challenges of recruitment in various contexts.

The Office of the Provost will select a cohort of 15-20 faculty representing the range of diversity on our campus with the goal of continued engagement either through STRIDE or other recruitment initiatives. No prior experience with STRIDE is necessary, only a commitment to promoting faculty diversity.

This initiative will complement other efforts in the Office of the Provost to support faculty diversity, harnessing the knowledge and experience of our faculty to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in recruitment.

STRIDE was launched at the University of Michigan in 2002 and continues to be a valuable resource for faculty recruitment. UMass Amherst is among a growing list of institutions that currently employ the STRIDE approach to recruiting for diversity and excellence.

Applications from all tenure-track faculty, non-tenure track faculty on continuing appointments, and librarians on continuing appointments are welcome. Faculty who are interested in applying to the STRIDE Faculty Fellowship can submit an application here by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.
