We Help Make Your Dreams Possible

At UMass Amherst, we’re committed to offering need-based financial aid and merit funding to every eligible undergraduate student. This year alone, we’ll give scholarships, grants, loans and work-study opportunities to nearly 85 percent of our first-year students. With one of the most comprehensive financial aid programs of any public university, we can help you and your family finance your education and fulfill your dreams.

UMass Financial Aid Updates

The FAFSA Simplification Act has changed the financial aid process for students and families. UMass Amherst Financial Aid Services has been working hard to distribute financial aid packages for our incoming and returning students. You can keep updated with our progress, below.

What’s New and How to Get Started

Need help estimating costs? Filing the FAFSA? Checking deadlines? Understanding your options? Our financial aid counselors know their stuff. We’ll help you get started and put together a package that fits your needs. All you have to do is ask.

What Does Undergraduate Education Cost?

The cost of a UMass Amherst undergraduate education includes tuition and fees. If you live on campus, you’ll have a room and board charge. Remember to factor in expenses for books and supplies, which generally range from $600-$1,200 per year. We set rates in the spring for the next academic year.

UMass Net Price Calculator

Need to estimate costs and aid? Use our Net Price Calculator. Net price means projected cost of attendance – tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board and other expenses – minus estimated grant aid based on what similar students paid in a previous year.
