About
Sheila Pennell ’08, PhD’17, RN, is a clinical associate professor at the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing and practices as an RN in hospice care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she also served as nurse manager for the Mullins Center COVID-19 community testing site and supported the Public Health Promotion Center’s vaccination and public health efforts. During this period, she collaborated with colleagues from the School of Public Health and Health Sciences to evaluate PHPC programs and explore their impacts on student mental health through qualitative inquiry.
Since the pandemic, Dr. Pennell has refocused on her teaching and deepened her commitment to service learning through a fellowship with the UMass Community Engagement and Service Learning Department for the 2023–24 academic year.
