Roshad Demetrie Meeks is a literary scholar. He completed his doctoral studies at Tufts University's Department of English. He wrote a dissertation on black nature poetry's formal qualities. His studies and teaching are an expression of his familial life: Meeks is from a farming family in the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta.
