The third annual UMass Energy Transition Symposium will take place on Friday, March 29 from 3-5:30 p.m. in the Amherst Room of the Campus Center, and will feature a panel discussion on energy justice at work and talks and poster presentations by ELEVATE Fellows and other students working in energy transition research.

The symposium is a showcase for energy transition research and campus climate action at the university, including work in STEM, social sciences, humanities, business and interdisciplinary studies.

The event will begin with a one-hour panel discussion, “Energy Justice at Work: Four Different Perspectives from Four Different Settings.” The discussion will be followed at 4 p.m. by 20-minute “flash” talks by Fellows in ELEVATE, a graduate training and research program focusing on technical, equity and climate challenges related to energy transition.

The public session concludes with a one-hour poster session that begins at 4:30. All members of the UMass and Five Colleges community with projects related to energy transition, environmental justice and sustainability have an opportunity to present their projects at the poster session, and 40 students are currently signed up to do so.

The event is sponsored by ELEVATE, in partnership with the Energy Transition Institute.

Registration is requested, and those interested in attending may RSVP here.
