What inspired me to become a nurse?

I chose nursing because women of color face many racial disparities in healthcare especially in maternal health. The  numbers of black mothers dying while delivering babies increases every year and overall women of color are often neglected when seen in hospitals. I want to be that advocate that gives them the sense of comfort during their hospital visits and work with other nurses to implement cultural competency in facilities to diminish this problem.
