Babatunde “Tunde” Olatinwo, BS, RN, CCRN, is a Critical Care Registered Nurse at Baystate Health whose career reflects a commitment to service, lifelong learning, leadership, and clinical excellence.
Before entering nursing, Tunde served six years on active duty in the United States Air Force, earning the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
Tunde earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing through UMass Amherst’s accelerated nursing program, where he was recognized as a peer leader and mentor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he volunteered to support individuals experiencing homelessness, helped establish the UMass Public Health Promotion Center to expand testing and contact tracing efforts, and later returned as an alumnus to provide vaccinations and health education.
After graduating, Tunde began his nursing career as a new graduate in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), where he developed a strong foundation in perioperative and post-anesthesia patient care. Motivated by a desire to deepen his clinical knowledge and care for the most critically ill patients, he transitioned to the Intensive Care Unit. There, he has continued to grow professionally as a CCRN-certified critical care nurse.
Beyond the bedside, Tunde is passionate about mentoring nursing students and early-career nurses, believing that investing in future healthcare professionals strengthens both the nursing profession and the communities it serves. Through his continued involvement with the UMass Amherst Alumni Board, he hopes to inspire, support, and connect the next generation of nurses while fostering a strong and engaged alumni community.
