I chose to pursue nursing because I want to be part of the solution to the flawed American healthcare system. I felt inspired by mentors and friends to pursue nursing for its underlying values and its emphasis on listening to and learning from patients. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities within the healthcare field and an inside way to increase access to equitable and just care on a systemic level while also providing individual attention to the patient. I feel grateful and excited to be joining the nursing field.
