About

Dr Jessica Dillard-Wright, Assistant Professor in the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing, is the recipient of the 2022 Barbara Brodie Nursing History Fellowship for her proposal titled "CASSANDRA Radical Feminist Nurses Network, the Women's Health Movement, and the Medical Establishment: Tensions in Second Wave Feminism".

This project will endeavor to examine the intersection of Second Wave feminism and healthcare, attending to the construction of race, gender, sexuality, and class while exploring the concurrent tensions between nursing, medicine, and the women's health movement, situating them alongside the health activism efforts of organizations like the Black Panthers and the Young Lords during the Civil Rights era and beyond.
