About

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow; learn as if you were to live forever.”

—Mahatma Gandhi

Constance Flynn, DNP, MS, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, is a longtime nursing educator with more than 30 years of experience teaching students at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral. She is deeply committed to student success, encouraging both short-term and long-term professional growth.

Dr. Flynn is a clinical associate professor and lead faculty for the DNP-FNP program. She teaches across the Elaine Marieb College of Nursing, including the Online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and Masters of Science nursing tracks, as well as the four-year and accelerated bachelors tracks. Dr. Flynn has taught a variety of courses including pathophysiology, pharmacology, primary care of adults, psychiatry-mental health nursing, women’s health, clinical internships, perspectives in nursing, and community health nursing.

Dr. Flynn holds certifications as an adult, family, and advanced practice addictions nurse practitioner. She is currently the Berkshire County representative for the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. In 2022, she received the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Massachusetts State Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice in recognition of her commitment to the field.

In fall 2019, Dr. Flynn was among the final nurse practitioners to provide expert testimony at Beacon Hill District Court in support of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners NPSaveBill (An Act to Support Access, Value, and Equity in Health Care, H. 1867/S. 1330). One year later, after a 25-year lobbying effort and an eight-year legislative process, Massachusetts nurse practitioners were granted independent practice on January 1, 2021—making Massachusetts the 23rd state in the nation to pass this legislation.

Dr. Flynn also practices as a nurse practitioner consultant, providing care for individuals with substance use disorders in inpatient and community settings. Her clinical focus includes harm reduction, hepatitis C diagnosis and treatment, and education for nurses, nursing students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, residents, and community providers on reducing stigma and managing medications for substance use treatments.
