Physical activity is an essential lifestyle component for healthy living and “steps per day” has become a simple metric for promotion of walking as an activity in which many of us can easily participate. Dr. Paluch will talk about her research to understand the association of the number of steps with morbidity and mortality outcomes.

Dr. Amanda Paluch is Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Applied Life Sciences. She is a physical activity epidemiologist and kinesiologist with a focus on translational research of utilizing technology to monitor and promote health. Her recent research has focused on the number of steps per day associated with health benefts. Dr. Paluch is also the lead author of a newly issued update to a scientific statement from the American Heart Association regarding resistance exercise training and cardiovascular health.
