Non-Degree Seeking Students

Eligibility

Non-degree seeking students are generally not eligible for financial aid. You can apply for an alternative loan. There are certain conditions that may allow you to become eligible for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. Find out if you might qualify.

Applying for Aid

If you are eligible for financial aid, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive an award. You may be asked to supply additional information to Financial Aid Services. Learn more about applying for aid.

Types of Aid

If you are eligible for financial aid, you may receive a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. If you are not eligible for financial aid, you may apply for an alternative loan. Learn more about types of aid.

Receiving Aid

After you complete your FAFSA, review your Student Aid Report for accuracy and to ensure that UMass Amherst is listed to receive your information electronically. You may need to respond to requests for documentation before your aid can be awarded. Summer Aid
