The Cultivating Agricultural Policy Innovators (CAPI) program within the Stockbridge School of Agriculture is now accepting applications for its fall 2024 internships.

CAPI is an internship program pioneered by the MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences) student chapter at UMass Amherst in collaboration with the Massachusetts Food System Collaborative, a non-profit organization that supports collective action toward an equitable, sustainable and resilient food system.

The CAPI internship, sponsored by the Office of Equity and Inclusion, empowers historically underrepresented minorities to conduct paid research on current policy issues, attend field visits and interview food system stakeholders, produce media communications and help organize the 2024 Food System Forum.

The fall 2024 internship, which will run October-December 2024, is open to all undergraduate and graduate students and offers a salary of $20 an hour for eight hours per week. Most work will be able to be completed remotely and no prior experience is required.

Alumni of CAPI will graduate with unparalleled professional readiness to work in a variety of fields, ranging from agricultural policy and law, government, farmer services and advocacy, environmental conservation and non-profit work. The MANRRS student chapter will also host workshops, guest lectures and symposia to further enhance the interns’ skills and network.

To apply for the internship, complete the Google Form here. For more information or any questions, contact Mateo Rull Garza, UMass Amherst MANRRS president, at mrullgarza@umass.edu.
