The Psychology of Peace and Violence Program trains doctoral students to examine the origins and nature of group conflict and violence through social psychological theory and research, and to use this knowledge as a foundation for reducing conflict and promoting positive group relations.
Toward that end, students enrolled in the Psychology of Peace and Violence Program fulfill the requirements for a doctoral degree in Social Psychology. In addition, students take specialized courses to understand how conflict, violence, and peace manifest between individuals and groups, and across societies. . In addition, each student completes an internship to gain field experience, working either internationally in another research lab or with a non-governmental or civil society organization, along with participating in research workshops with other program students and faculty.
