About

Diversity and Social Justice

The University of Massachusetts Amherst College of Nursing’s Committee on Diversity and Social Justice strives to facilitate and foster an appreciation of diversity within the College of Nursing community and beyond. Within the College these efforts encourage students, faculty, and staff to share a greater appreciation and understanding of the value of cultural and ethnic diversity.

When applied within the context of nursing, respect for one another's varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences can improve the overall standard of care and wellbeing of patients. The committee aims to incorporate this concept of “social justice” into the College of Nursing curriculum, by acknowledging differences in personal and healthcare needs and promoting inclusion.
