The letter of specialization in developmental disabilities and human services (DDHS) is a partnership between the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at UMass and the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

For your work towards the letter, you’ll choose three courses from a range of topics, depending on your interests. Potential topics include intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, disability history and policy, and intersections of disability and race, gender, and sexuality.

You’ll also have access to volunteer opportunities, field trips, lectures from invited speakers, and career panels, among other activities. The combination of coursework and internship experience is excellent preparation for your career working with and supporting people with disabilities.
