With a minor in English, you’ll develop your skills as a reader, writer, speaker, and critical thinker while enjoying great works of American, British, and Anglophone literature. You’ll also enjoy the English program’s dynamic community of faculty and students, as well as small classes, where instructors know their students by name.

Minors are required to take Introduction to Literary Studies, upper level British and American literature courses, an upper level course in global Anglophone or ethnic American literature, culture, or rhetorics, as well as electives above the 200 and 300 levels.

You can deepen your involvement in the field through student-run organizations, such as the English Society, which organizes literature-related trips, poetry readings, and writing groups, and publishes the literary magazine Jabberwocky
