Examine the deeper impact of social media on our interpersonal relationships or take a closer look at the importance of media literacy. The study of communication is centered on the ways we communicate in social, cultural, and political life. At UMass Amherst, students apply critical thought and systematic analysis to the field of communications to understand the many ways it impacts our lives at the societal and personal levels. Offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, a degree in communication can lead to careers in print or digital media, politics, and advertising, among others.
