The Master of Public Policy (MPP) integrates theoretical learning with ample opportunities for real-world experience, including internships, capstone projects, and client work. You’ll graduate prepared to be a leader in the public, private, or nonprofit sector.

Gain the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to advance positive social change with the Master of Public Policy. Our interdisciplinary graduate program lets you complete your master’s in just one year by taking up to 12 online credits the first summer and the balance during two semesters in residence.

Open to any student with a bachelor’s degree and a passion for public service, this 37-credit master’s blends online and in-person classes in an innovative accelerated program.

In addition to the one-year MPP, the School of Public Policy offers a 4+1 MPP open to seniors at UMass Amherst and Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith colleges, and a two-year Master of Public Policy and Administration, which includes dual-degree options in business administration, education, public health, and regional planning.

While structured as a one-year program for full-time students, the MPP program is also open to part-time students. The GRE is not required to apply.

AFFORDABLE & ACCESSIBLE

Our Master of Public Policy is one of the most affordable degrees of its kind in the region. We offer generous grants, including Commonwealth Policy Fellowships, which recognize academic excellence and leadership potential.
